Making time for what matters

Dated: June 6, 2026 Leave a Comment

I know that I need to slow down and enjoy moments more fully. I am someone who has a tendency to do too many things at once (I’m an Aries!) only to find my good intentions have been left by the wayside by the time week 2 comes around. So, I’ve made a conscious decision to take things more slowly as I embark both on initiatives that I’ve been meaning to tackle for ages (ahem…this blog) and also unraveling unsupportive habits (e.g. eating BBQ chips and Muenster cheese as I binge watch Unforgotten on a Sunday night. Not exactly helpful actions to advance the ‘I will eat more mindfully’ or ‘I will get up earlier and work out’ objectives). I know I need to make many changes to how I approach things but I’m going to start by being more patient with myself as I incorporate the “to dos” to achieve my goals into my usual hectic schedule.

What does slowing down look like for me? Tea in the morning, instead of coffee first thing — it keeps me from starting the day jittery — while strolling through my garden of weeds 😉 as I sip. Getting in 10,000 steps (outside preferably) while listening to some of the several podcast episodes that are on my playlist. Not eating past 7:00PM when I can — I’ve found that I sleep better at night because of it and wake up less bloated. Winding down at 10:00PM-ish with a few pages of a book that is on my TBR list before I watch a show. (More on gatekeeping for yourself as a strategy in a future post.)

I’m reminded that we make the time for things that matter to us so I’m working on throwing out the “I don’t have time” rationale. The key to making something actually happen, for me at least, is to schedule what I want to do on my calendar. Even if it’s 15 minutes, I’ve started to put the things that matter on my agenda for the day — it allows me to prioritize the things that I want to do and that make me happy.

There’s a ton of burden we carry when we don’t do the things that we say we want to do. I’m tired of the guilt I heap on myself…and yet, if I control my schedule, the only thing getting in the way of my accomplishing something is moi. Revelations can be hard to tango with but awareness is part of the solution. I’m working on getting out of my own way!

What could you do in your day-to-day to stop and ‘smell the roses’? Just remember — Rome wasn’t built in a day…but they were laying bricks every hour. Remind yourself to be patient with the process. I’m doing the same.

(1) I love biscuits with my tea and these are good ones. I got hooked because I fly Delta. A lot. And, when I get upgraded, I can have as many as I want…which is dangerous. (2) I like making a ritual out of teatime — pretty cups and saucers have a way of uplifiting my spirits and seem to infuse the tea with beauty. (3) YES! Every single one of us is worth it. Don’t ever let anyone tell you or treat you otherwise. (4) How gorgeous is this bottle? Oh, and it happens to contain Champagne. I only drink occasionally but when I do, I want to drink this! (5) I am a sucker for branding…and this aesthetic gives me a jolt of inspiration…and a desire to book a flight to Singapore via a long weekend layover in Sydney.

Life in the superlative

Life in the Superlative

Hello fellow adventurer! Welcome to my little blog-haven! I’m going to fill this space with all sorts of stuff that strikes my fancy, things that hit a chord and that make me feel like doing a double-take and breathing heavily. It’s about the times you’re faced with an “Oh. Wow. How very extraordinary!” moment.

Juggling family and career, I’ve been forgetting to ‘stop and smell the roses’. My  daughter asked me not so long ago why I am always in such a rush and so tired. I didn’t have a good answer. I’m still trying to figure out why I feel so drained all the time. Sure, I have lots going on…there’s always a lot going on. But, while I am rushing, wishing for some date in the future to arrive (the weekend, next month when I meet up with friends, after I file my taxes…), I usually am also lamenting about the fact that it seems that time is flying! I can’t both wish time away and bemoan the fact that it’s fleeting.

So, these are my chronicles of the marvelous to help remind me of the magnificence in the world – to drink in the heady fragrance of all the blooming roses (figurative and real) around – and inspire me to pursue life in the superlative. Maybe it’ll help you, too…or at the very least, serve to entertain and illuminate. My plan is to go about searching far and wide for places, people and things that are so very smart, cool, lovely, beatific… and share stories that make you think deeper and make you want to go out and make something happen! Join me, will you?

Welcome & about moi

Dated: January 2, 2025 Leave a Comment

Hello! Welcome to Oh So Molto! My name is Kaveri…it’s the name of a river in the south of India. To help people pronounce my name, I usually tell them, think “Very Kaveri”. All my life, people have been playing up on the phrase, usually in good contexts (thankfully) as in ‘Kaveri cool’, ‘Kaveri fun’, ‘Kaveri nice’…So, I decided to incorporate that theme in naming my blog: “molto” means “very” in Italian.

I am exceedingly passionate about all things that are oh so…very cool, very lovely, very sweet, very stylish, very thought provoking and, well, you get the idea! I’m a gypsy at heart, a bohemian free-spirit, a bluestocking and a former Brownie who is a reformed snack harlot (note: “reformed”maybe a bit of an overstatement). I have been coaching people and companies to shake off the doldrums, jump off plateaus and go for it! I decided that it was time for me, personally, to do the same.

I’ve got two darling human children, two highly mischievous K9 kids and an all-around wonderful husband. I am a very fortunate woman indeed. I’m the Executive Director of Dinner, —- —-  and the former Queen of Carpools and Playdates. And now, I am the editrix and curator of Oh So Molto, this heavenly little blog spot where I get to chronicle the marvelous, exercise my creativity, keep inspired in the everyday and throw even more light onto my dreams! I hope this blog will be as provocative to you as it is to me in creating a life brimming with imagination and possibility and a kick in the pants to jump in. Come along with me on my journey as I explore lands far and near for people, things, places, and ephemera that motivate me to live ‘life in the superlative’.

(1) I have a ton of special jewelry but I don’t wear my pieces often enough. I need to find a way to display it all so that I can pick pieces every day. Any ideas? These are charms I found in the Atlanta airport as I was connecting to go to Los Angeles. (2) It’s OK to be the dressiest in the room! Wear what makes you feel fabulous and own the room. (3) This is my actual Vespa! My husband bought it for me for my birthday. He’s amazing. I have wanted one forever…now I can channel la dolce vita in Tiffany Blue. I have to get a motorcycle license to drive it on the open road and that’s gonna take a minute. In the meantime, I’m practicing in the parking lot of the local elementary school after hours. (4) Don’t postpone your joy until next year…or the next. Book it, Babe. Book the trip! This is an image of Positano, Italy…an idyllic location set against the backdrop of expansive blue ocean. Plus – Italian food, wine, and culture. Dreamy!! I’m going there this year with my daughter to celebrate her graduation from high school! ❤️ Stay tuned for posts on that epic adventure this summer.
